This is our Multiple Sclerosis Bike Riding Page.  The yearly Multiple Sclerosis "BikeMS" bicycle fund raisers are a big deal for us. We have ridden every year since 1999, except for 2004 when we only volunteered. But it's not uncommon for us to ride in more than one BikeMS event in any year, so maybe we made up for that.

Emily and I owe a huge "thank you" to everyone who has ever contributed to this cause that is so special for us. The event is sometimes called the "MS 150" for 150 miles of riding over two days.  Now there are so many MS fund-raising rides, that some locations have a hard time pegging exactly 150 miles.  "BikeMS" is a bit more accommodating.  Two days of riding is a good opportunity for Emily and me to operate as a team and is a very good fund-raising event for the National MS Society (opens in new window).

The spring 2022 refresh of this web site will fix abandoned links and add photos.

2009 results in a HUGE Thank You to everyone who helped us complete it.  As usual, we couldn't have succeeded without you.  The new route was terrific.  Day one from Tulsa to Chandler was cool, sunny, good pavement, nice elevation, friendly people, and great rest stops!  Day two from Chandler to OKC was harder with temps into the 90's, more hills, and for me, wind and sun burn.  Less fun, but you do what you have to for this cause.  As always, Emily hung on and we had a great two day ride.  Both Emily and Tom reached their fund-raising goals.

2009 OK Chapter Bike MS Victory Party happened almost a month later.  Emily was asked to speak about her life with MS.  She's good and that ended with a standing ovation.  Hard to follow, but then special awards were handed out to lots of people who routinely go above and beyond.  Then we got the news of being just $5,000 away from the Ride's $500,000 goal.  The ride director asked 10 people in the audience to each make a $500 donation.  He then offered to be the first.  Others followed, and before we knew it, we had our first $500,000 ride.  Tom ended up as the 11th highest fund-raiser of the Nat MS Soc OK Chapter 2009 MS Ride...thanks to YOU!  A special night, to be sure.  Thank you to all of you for helping with this year’s Mother Road MS Fund Raising Bicycle Ride!  We did it!

Here are some photos of the Ride.

2008 may be the last of the grand series of Oklahoma MS Chapter MS Rides in an out-and-back loop around Tulsa.  In 2009, the route changed to run from Tulsa to OKC.  Tom was the 27th highest fund raiser for the ride.   Picaso album (will be fixed in 2022)

2007 was our first MS Ride in Oklahoma.  We wanted to do good, so created this fund-raising page.  It really helped.  A big thank you goes out to everyone who contributed that year.  Picaso album (will be fixed in 2022)

2007 started out with our first Frisco to Ft Worth, Texas MS Ride.  Super nice, even if it did rain a bit.  Best part was having so many Team West U members reconvene from across the USA for a close-out ride.  Another dream team passes into history.  Picaso Album (will be fixed in 2022)

1999-2006  It will take a while for me to get photos for these early rides organized and posted.
